History And Demographics

Argentina has a very dense history. It first started in the early 1400s with the Machupe living on the lands for thousands of years. They lived on rivers that drained into Rio de Plata.   Until the 1530s. In 1530, Spain colonized the country of Argentina.  After being colonized by Spain for thousands of years.  On July 9, 1816, Argentina finally gained independence from Spain. Argentina had many rebellions in the 1900s. After gaining independence, Argentina had many power shifts, first starting in 1943 when the Government was overthrown by a military leader named Jaun Perot, and he finally took power in 1946. Jaun Perot was then overthrown in 1955 but then came back and regained power in 1973, but he then died a year later, and his third wife then assumed power after his death in 1974. But after another military coup in 1976.  In 1982, the government tried to take the  Falkland Islands(Islas Malvins), but they were defeated by the British in the Falkland Islands war. That was the final straw for the people, and the country then became a civilian-run country for many years. After there were a lot of riots in 1989, Perón's successor, Carlos Manem, instituted economic policies. In 1999, Fernando de la Rúa, who was an alliance of the collocation, was elected president. But his administration struggled with rising unemployment and heavy foreign debt. He then resigned a year later. Under the succession of the Interim, one of the worst economic crashes occurred at the beginning of the 21st century under President Nestor Kircher, who won the election in 2003 and helped stabilize the economy. Four years later, his wife became the country's first female president. She led from 2003 to 2007 as the first democratically elected female president.
